Siapa yang nak masuk, siapa yang nak keluar

January transfer window mid-term report: Who is coming & who is going in the Premier League

ARSENAL

Arsene Wenger badly needs reinforcements at centre-forward, full-back and in central midfield, despite the advanced rehabilitations of long-term absentees Jack Wilshere and Bacary Sagna.

But the Frenchman’s famed prudence combined with his faith in the players he has nurtured means the £50 million kitty at his disposal could remain untouched.

Arsenal have made enquiries about the availability of a cluster of players this month, with rumours suggesting a potential move for Koln's Lukas Podolski may be in the offing.

However, the most likely recruit they will add to the capture of on-loan Thierry Henry is a player half the Frenchman’s age - highly rated Southampton left-back Luke Shaw, who is being talked of at St Mary’s in the same breath as another esteemed Academy graduate, Gareth Bale.

Ins: Thierry Henry (New York Red Bulls, loan)
Outs: Emmanuel Frimpong (Wolves, loan), Vito Mannone (Hull City, loan)
Targets: Luke Shaw, Nathaniel Clyne, Yann M’Vila, Yoan Gourcuff, Jan Vertonghen
Possible departures: Manuel Almunia, Marouane Chamakh, Tomas Rosicky, Ryo Miyaichi (loan), Theo Walcott

ASTON VILLA

The big question is whether Aston Villa will sell prize asset Darren Bent if Liverpool come calling with a cheque that the Midlands club feel they cannot refuse.

Liverpool’s interest in the England international is genuine and there are strong rumours within the game that they are preparing a bid this month for Bent, who Villa will only off-load if they receive an offer that matches the £18m rising to £24m they paid Sunderland 12 months ago.

Should Bent change clubs for the second consecutive January, Villa will look to bring in a replacement beyond the on-loan Robbie Keane. The names of Didier Drogba and Andy Carroll have been touted by the club's hierarchy.

There could also be some centre-half movement at Villa Park. James Collins is a target for Sunderland and QPR after failing to agree new contract terms.

Ins: Robbie Keane (LA Galaxy, loan), Enda Stevens (Shamrock Rovers)
Outs: Shane Lowry (Millwall, loan), Jack Sampson (Southend United, loan)
Targets: Nathaniel Clyne, Didier Drogba, Andy Carroll, Scott Dann, Jordan Rhodes
Possible departures: James Collins, Darren Bent, Fabian Delph

BLACKBURN ROVERS

Steve Kean has promised there will be new arrivals at Ewood Park although his biggest battle will be to hang on to centre-half Christopher Samba, who is attracting covetous eyes from QPR if not from Tottenham anymore.

Kean wants to bring in a centre-forward, with Bordeaux’s Anthony Modeste and Fulham’s Andy Johnson among his prime targets. Johnson’s reluctance to leave London is proving a sticking point, however.

The club has also shown an interest in Paraguayan international midfielder Victor Caceres, although they have not yet placed an official bid.

Ins: Anthony Modeste (loan subject to medical)
Outs: None
Targets: Andy Johnson, Victor Caceres, Giovani dos Santos
Possible departures: Christopher Samba, Scott Dann

BOLTON WANDERERS

Bolton are on the verge of signing USA centre-back Tim Ream from New York Red Bulls as a direct replacement for Gary Cahill, subject to a work permit appeal next week.

Another MLS player, French striker Sebastien Le Toux, is strong target for Owen Coyle as he tries to beef up the relegation candidates.

The Scot also wants some creativity in his team and is tracking Tottenham’s Giovani dos Santos and Blackburn’s Junior Hoilett, who is waiting to hear if Spurs’ interest will materialise into a firm offer.

Ins: None
Outs: Gary Cahill (Chelsea, £7m), Jack Sampson (Southend United, loan)
Targets: Tim Ream, Giovani dos Santos, Junior Hoilett, Sebastien Le Toux
Possible departures: Kevin Davies

CHELSEA

Andre Villas-Boas has reinforced his central defence with the acquisition of Gary Cahill, a direct replacement for the ostracised Alex, who will join QPR if the west London rivals can agree on a fee.

With the club’s contract talks with Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou deadlocked, the departure of one of the Ivory Coast pair cannot be ruled out, while rumours of Fernando Torres’ possible departure refuse to completely die down.

Right-back remains a problem position for Chelsea, with Marseille’s Cesar Apilicueta among the targets. Villas-Boas also wants more midfield craft although Michael Essien’s earlier-than-expected return means that swoops for the likes of Luka Modric, Eden Hazard and Jack Rodwell will be postponed until the summer.

Ins: Gary Cahill (Bolton Wanderers, £7m)
Outs: Nicolas Anelka (Shanghai Shenhua, free), Josh McEachran (Swansea, loan), Patrick van Aanholt (Vitesse Arnhem, loan), Gael Kakuta (Dijon, loan), Ben Gordon (Kilmarnock, loan)
Targets: Cesar Azpilicueta, Milos Krasic, Jack Rodwell, Luka Modric
Possible departures: Alex, Salomon Kalou, Didier Drogba, Fernando Torres

EVERTON

David Moyes has worked miracles on a tight budget and will have to continue to do so as the club’s well-publicised financial problems once again burden their recruitment policy.

Darron Gibson and the on-loan Landon Donovan have beefed up midfield although there are strong rumours that one of Tim Cahill or Jack Rodwell will have to be sold to help pay the club’s bills.

Moyes remains keen on buying a striker and is casting his eyes on a series of cut-price Continental targets, including Catania’s Maxi Lopez, while USA international Edson Buddle is currently on trial at Goodison Park.

Ins: Darron Gibson (Manchester United, £500,000 rising to £2m), Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy, loan)
Outs: Aristote Nsiala (Accrington, loan)
Targets: Maxi Lopez, Jeremy Perbet, Edson Buddle
Possible departures: Tim Cahill, Jack Rodwell

FULHAM

Martin Jol is in the market for a new centre-forward, a left winger and a right-back for the first-team but the only arrivals to Craven Cottage have been highly-rated teenage midfielders Jack Grimmer and Lasse Vigen Christensen.

Nevertheless, Fulham are still active in the window and there is expected to be some activity over the next 12 days.

The Londoners have prioritised a striker and have held discussions with West Brom about signing Peter Odemwingie after balking at the wage demands of Marseille’s Andre-Pierre Gignac and failing to capture Catania’s Maxi Lopez on loan.

Bobby Zamora could make way if Fulham’s £5m asking price is met, although it is more likely that Andy Johnson will leave, with QPR leading the chase ahead of Blackburn Rovers.

Ins: Jack Grimmer (Aberdeen, £217,000), Lasse Vigen Christensen (FC Midtjytlland, £83,000)
Outs: None
Targets: Peter Odemwingie, Andre-Pierre Gignac, Scott Sinclair, Nathaniel Clyne
Possible departures: Andy Johnson, Chris Baird, Damien Duff, Bobby Zamora, Clint Dempsey

LIVERPOOL

Liverpool’s chronic failure to put the ball in the back of the net has cost them dearly this season and it is a problem that has forced the club to consider replenishing the forward line.

Talk of a late window swoop for Darren Bent has gathered steam over the last month, although a move for the nomadic striker is complicated by a number of factors - Aston Villa’s desire to recoup the money they spent a year ago and source an adequate replacement, the difficulty in off-loading the struggling Andy Carroll and Bent's own preference for a return to London.

Liverpool have continued their policy of sweeping up eye-catching youngsters by following the £1million signing of schoolboy Jordan Ibe with a swoop for Sporting Lisbon’s teenage playmaker Joao Carlos Teixeira.

Ins: Jordan Ibe (Wycombe Wanderers, £1million)
Outs: Danny Wilson (Blackpool, loan)
Targets: Joao Carlos Teixeira, Darren Bent, Wilfried Zaha, Scott Sinclair
Possible departures: Andy Carroll, Dirk Kuyt

MANCHESTER CITY

The never-ending saga of Carlos Tevez’s future is continuing to dominate the media headlines but the world’s richest club are busy on plenty of other fronts.

They will listen to offers for Nedum Onuoha, Wayne Bridge and possibly even Adam Johnson as Robert Mancini continues to press the club to bring in the marquee signing or two he feels they need to secure the Premier League title.

Roma’s Daniele de Rossi remains a firm target for central midfield, while Wesley Sneijder and Ezequiel Lavezzi are on the radar of Mancini as he looks for more fantasy in the attacking third. With one eye on the future, City are also closely monitoring the contract situations of Manchester United teenage midfielders Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison.

Ins: None
Outs:
Harry Bunn (Preston North End, loan), Kieran Trippier (Burnley), Alex Nimely (Coventry City, loan), Chris Chantler (Carlisle United, loan)
Targets: Daniele de Rossi, Paul Pogba, Ravel Morrison, Wesley Sneijder, Ezequiel Lavezzi
Possible departures: Carlos Tevez, Nedum Onuoha, Wayne Bridge, Adam Johnson

MANCHESTER UNITED

Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed the prospect of any reinforcements at Old Trafford to add to the shock comeback of Paul Scholes, despite centre-back frailties and the chronic absence of a player who can control the midfield heartlands.

All the talk is of the possible departures of Dimitar Berbatov, who is attracting interest from all over Europe, and youthful pair Paul Pogba and Ravel Morrison, who are both out of contract in the summer and being eyed up by a number of Premier League clubs, including Manchester City.

Yet there remains the tantalising prospect of a marquee signing to nurse the team through the second half of the season. The word is that United’s business is not done yet.

Ins: Paul Scholes (free)
Outs:
Darron Gibson (Everton, £500,000 rising to £2m), Federico Macheda (QPR, loan), John Cofie (Royal Antwerp, loan), Joshua King (Hull City, loan)
Targets: Nathaniel Clyne, Cheick Tiote, Jack Rodwell
Possible departures: Dimitar Berbatov, Paul Pogba, Ravel Morrison

NEWCASTLE UNITED

All the talk on the Toon is of the exciting arrival of striker Papiss Cisse but there are strong rumours that Newcastle are not yet finished in the window.
While the transfer of the Senegal striker has surely put to bed a return for Andy Carroll, Alan Pardew remains keen on bolstering his central defence and a move for Ajax’s highly rated Belgium international Jan Vertonghen cannot be discounted.
Newcastle expect to cling on to Cheick Tiote but a number of Premier League clubs are sniffing around the energetic midfielder, while Danny Simpson has rejected a series of contract offers from the club.
Ins: Papiss Cisse (Freiburg, £10million)
Outs: None
Targets: Jan Vertonghen, Ravel Morrison
Possible departures: Alan Smith, Peter Lovenkrands, Danny Simpson, Cheick Tiote

NORWICH CITY

Norwich are closing in on Jonny Howson after Leeds United accepted a £2m bid for the combative midfielder. He might not be Paul Lambert’s only significant signing of the window with the club also considering moves for Burnley striker Jay Rodriguez and Norway-based goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey. Both Aaron Wilbraham and Andrew Crofts could move on after slipping down the Canaries’ pecking order.
Ins: None
Outs: Ritchie De Laet (Manchester United)
Targets: Jonny Howson, Jay Rodriguez, Adam Kwarasey
Possible departures: Aaron Wilbraham, Andrew Crofts

QPR

No Premier League club is expected to be busier in the remaining days of the window than cash-rich QPR, who recruited Mark Hughes with the promise that he would be given significant funds to help them steer clear of relegation. Faxed bids are flying in all directions, with Christopher Samba, Alex, Nedum Onuoha, Andy Johnson, Bobby Zamora and Steven Pienaar among the many Loftus Road targets.
First through the door could be Sao Paulo striker Henrique on a loan-to-buy deal, with discussions believed to be at an advanced stage.
Ins: Federico Macheda (Manchester United, loan)
Outs: None
Targets: Christopher Samba, Nedum Onuoha, Alex, Andy Johnson, Henrique, Bobby Zamora, Steven Pienaar
Possible departures: Jay Bothroyd, Danny Gabbidon, Rob Hulse

STOKE CITY

Stoke have been relatively quiet this month after their extensive recruitment policy last summer but are close to signing VVV Venlo striker Michael Uchebo for £1.5million if they can secure a work permit for the Nigerian. There is the possibility that Kenwyne Jones could leave the club after Peter Crouch took his target-man mantle, with rumours gathering pace of a possible switch to the Middle-East.
Ins: None
Outs: Danny Pugh (Leeds United)
Targets: Michael Uchebo, James Collins, Craig Gardner
Possible departures: Kenwyne Jones

SUNDERLAND

Martin O’Neill took the job knowing he would not be able to make a massive splash in the winter window but he wants to tweak his squad as injuries threaten the team’s rejuvenation. His priority is a finisher who can put away the chances Sunderland are creating, with Turkey international Melvut Erding and Bobby Zamora among his targets, although the Fulham man is reluctant to move to the north-east.
O’Neill is an admirer of Aston Villa defender James Collins, who has failed to agree new terms at Villa Park, but he faces a battle to hang on to homesick midfielder Craig Gardner.
Ins: None
Outs: Nyron Nosworthy (Watford), Ryan Noble (Derby County, loan), John Egan (Crystal Palace, loan), Trevor Carson (Hull City, loan), Jordan Cook (Carlisle United, loan), Billy Knott (AFC Wimbledon, loan)
Targets: James Collins, Bobby Zamora, Melvut Erding
Possible departures: Craig Gardner

SWANSEA CITY

Brendan Rodgers has used his influence at Chelsea to bring in Josh McEachran on loan for the rest of the season after satisfying the club where he built his coaching reputation that the teenage midfielder will be given plenty of game time.

The Swansea boss is one of the many Premier League managers closely watching Crystal Palace’s exciting wide player Wilfried Zaha, although the £25,000-a-week salary limit at the Liberty Stadium makes it a hard sell for Rodgers.

He also wants another centre-forward, with Bristol City’s Nicky Maynard and Preston North End’s Jamie Proctor among his targets.

Ins: Rory Donnelly (Cliftonville), Josh McEachran (Chelsea, loan), Darnel Situ (Lens, loan), Gylfi Sigurdsson (Hoffenheim, loan)
Outs: Vangelis Moras (unattached), David Cotterill (unattached)
Targets: Nicky Maynard, Jamie Proctor, Wilfried Zaha
Possible departures: Stephen Dobbie, Scott Sinclair, Nathan Dyer

TOTTENHAM

Harry Redknapp and the last days of the transfer window are as comfortable bedfellows as port and stilton, while chairman Daniel Levy has a considerable back catalogue of eleventh hour deals.

Nevertheless, Tottenham are not expecting much movement in and out of the club despite Redknapp’s desire for some high calibre reinforcements in the centre-forward and wide positions.

Spurs will move for prime target Junior Hoilett only if they can first off-load either Niko Kranjcar or Steven Pienaar, while the progress of Steven Caulker during his loan spell at Swansea has discouraged a move for Ajax’s Jan Vertonghen. Christopher Samba is no longer a target.

Don’t rule out a late exit for either Jermain Defoe or Roman Pavlyuchenko, who are both trying to tunnel their way out of White Hart Lane.

Ins: Iago Falque (Juventus)
Outs: Iago Falque (Southampton, loan), David Button (Doncaster Rovers, loan), Dean Parrett (Yeovil Town, loan)
Targets: Junior Hoilett, Tim Krul, Jan Vertonghen, Loic Remy
Possible departures: Niko Kranjcar, Steven Pienaar, Giovani dos Santos, Sebastien Bassong, Jermain Defoe, Ramon Pavlyuchenko

WEST BROMWICH ALBION

Fulham are keen on signing Peter Odemwingie, who has left Roy Hodgson distinctly unimpressed with his work-rate since signing a new contract last autumn.

The West Brom boss will sell Odemwingie if the club’s £5m valuation is met and is openly considering centre-forward replacements, with Bristol City’s Nicky Maynard and Reading’s Noel Hunt among those who have caught his attention.

Birmingham City’s Liam Ridgewell, Cardiff City’s Peter Whittingham and Fulham’s Damien Duff are also targets for Hodgson in the current window.

Ins: Scott Allan (Dundee United, £300,000)
Outs: James Hurst (Chesterfield, loan), Chris Wood (Bristol City, loan), Lateef Elford-Alliyu (Tranmere Rovers, loan)
Targets: Liam Ridgewell, Nicky Maynard, Noel Hunt, Damien Duff, Peter Whittingham
Possible departures: Peter Odemwingie

WIGAN ATHLETIC

Roberto Martinez badly needs a goalscorer to replenish the least effective attack in the Premier League and is casting the net far and wide, albeit armed only with small budget.

Among his targets are prolific Chile international Humberto Suazo, Celtic’s Georgios Samaras, Doncaster’s Billy Sharp and Leeds United’s Ross McCormack.

Ins: None
Outs:
None
Targets:
Humberto Suazo, Georgios Samaras, Billy Sharp, Ross McCormack, Luke Chambers
Possible departures: Victor Moses

WOLVES

Mick McCarthy has struggled to find goals from any source other than Steven Fletcher and is in the market for a forward to take some of the pressure off his top scorer.

Craig Gardner’s desire to return to the Midlands has also opened up a window of opportunity for McCarthy, who is a big admirer of the Sunderland midfielder’s energy and work-rate.

Ins: Emmanuel Frimpong (Arsenal, loan), Eggert Jonsson (Hearts)
Outs: Leigh Griffiths (Hibernian, loan)
Targets: Nicky Maynard, Kevin Davies, Craig Gardner, Matt Fryatt
Possible departures: Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, Adam Hammill
