TREBLE hero Thiago and Isco showed why they are under such a spotlight in Manchester as Spain's stylish starlets stormed to the Euro Under-21s title.

United target Thiago notched an easy header, a crisp left-footer and a penalty as Spain led the final 3-1 inside 38 minutes.

Then fellow midfielder Isco - looming ever larger on City's radar - notched a 66th minute spot-kick to make it 4-1.

Ciro Immobile had lobbed a brief early leveller for a talented but still outplayed Italy side, for whom Fabio Borini cracked a late consolation.

Spain, though, underlined just how their latest generation of silky passers are matching the promise shown a decade ago by their current all-conquering seniors.

Their boss Julen Lopetegui said: “The key was the players decided that individual talent without the strength of the group is wasted.”

Alvaro Morato's perfect run and cross teed up Thiago's sublime opener on six minutes as the Spaniards began with ominous fluency.

But, from Matteo Bianchetti's 60-yard pass, Immobile quickly pulled Italy level with a glorious first touch to control and an equally-skilful finish.

Italian keeper Francesco Bardi made three decent saves in this lively, open start.

And just past the half-hour Barcelona ace Thiago lashed Spain back in front after a long-range dream of a ball from Koke.

Then, seven minutes later, Thiago demanded the ball off Isco to complete his hat-trick from the spot - after Giulio Donati was harshly penalised for a sliding challenge on Cristian Tello.

Roma winger Alessandro Florenzi half-volleyed a gaping chance wide shortly after the break as Italy threatened a revival.

But Spain's leisurely superiority was confirmed on 66 minutes with a far more clear-cut penalty.

Vasco Regini clumsily hauled over the fast-turning Marvin Montoya, enabling Malaga playmaker Isco to roll home a spot-kick.

Yet Italy's commitment never dipped.

And they deserved their brilliant but forlorn riposte 14 minutes later, Borini thumping home a far-corner 20-yarder.
