Fulham sack Meulensteen as new boss Magath brings in his own coaches in bid to avoid the drop

Fulham have sacked head coach Rene Meulensteen following the appointment of new manager Felix Magath.

Fulham named the former Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg manager on Friday night but there was no official word on Meulensteen's future.

But the club have now confirmed that Meulensteen, along with assistant head coach Ray Wilkins and technical director Alan Curbishley have all left the club.

The announcement brought an end to Meulensteen's 75-day spell at the Craven Cottage helm.

Mick Priest and Jonathan Hill, who were both brought in by Meulensteen in December, have also left the club.

Magath has brought in Tomas Oral as first team coach and Werner Leuthard as conditioning coach.

'I’m very grateful to Rene, Alan and Ray, as well as Mick and Jonathan, for their commitment to Fulham,' said chairman Shahid Khan. 'Their efforts were admirable and appreciated, and I wish them the best.
