SO WHAT DOES 'BRAZUCA' MEAN?

The ball was named Brazuca in September 2012 following a public vote in Brazil involving one million football fans.

The term 'Brazuca' is an informal word meaning 'Brazilian' and describes the Brazilian way of life.

The colours of the ball reflect those of the Brazilian flag and tournament logo, while the design is a representation of the colourful wristbands that Brazilians often wear.

THE VERDICT

The Jabulani did not go down well but the Brazuca is bound to be popular with the players next summer.

Adidas have invested great time and resource to ensure that it will be the best ever and having tested it at their HQ in Germany, I'm confident it won't disappoint.

It explodes off the foot but the flight path doesn't deviate - it's true, and 'keepers will approve. The weight feels perfect too.

Now all we can hope to see is some buzukas from the Brazuca!

Standing out: The Brazuca is the most colourful World Cup ball yet, as it stands out from the rest of the adidas balls used in the finals dating back to 1970
