Manchester United’s bid to reclaim the
Barclays Premier League title in 2012/13 will begin with a tough trip to
Everton, and with the disappointing performance last year when they
blew a solid lead towards the end of the season to lose the title to
fellow rivals Manchester City, they really need to go for a squad
upheaval.
They are searching for new talent and here’s a list of all players that are rumored to be arriving or leaving the club.
Recent signings
Nick Powell
He may have only
signed recently from Crewe, but already the Daily Mail thinks he could
be off on loan to Blackburn, touted as the next CR7 by Sir Alex
Ferguson. Do you think this is a good move by the Front Office at
Manchester to let go of the talent to train somewhere else rather than
the famous Manchester United Academy?
Shinji Kagawa
Kawaga has been
officially signed by the club and only the work permit needs to be
sorted out. Fans should be happy to get Kagawa, who will help boost the
aging midfield as Sir Alex continues to look for young players to
replace Paul Scholes, Park Ji-Sung, Ryan Giggs and Anderson, who most
probably will leave United this season. Not to mention Darren Fletcher,
who is still not ready to return from his bowel ailment and Michael
Carrick needs help holding the fort in midfield.
Rumours (Arrivals)
James Rodriguez (Porto)
As speculations
are still going on about Nani moving to Italian powerhouse Jeventus,
James would be a long term plan for the Devils to replace
him.The Colombian is valued in the €30million bracket. There are also
talks that Man Utd could add Anderson in the trade to get the deal done.
Thiago Alcantara (Barcelona)
Thiago Alcantra,
former team-mate of David De Gea at last year’s Under-21 European
finals and a scorer against United in pre-season, the 21-year-old is a
great talent and if Man Utd succeed in signing him, he could be one for
the future. He is expected to fetch around $25 million and would not be
given up so easily by the Spanish giants.
Robert Lewandowski (Borussia Dortmund)
Borussia Dortmund
have insisted that Robert is not for sale after agreeing a deal with the
Reds to sell Shinji Kagawa, but still reports are going around that
United are trying to buy the first goal scorer of Euro 2012. There is no
confirmation about this as of now.
Luka Modric (Tottenham)
As
of now, Real Madrid are front-runners to sign Luka Modric after his
friend Mate Bilic was quoted saying: “He loves the Premier League but he
wants to play in Spain. He’s very close to agreeing a move.” Also,
Spurs are reportedly demanding $40 Million for the playmaker, which seems
a little out of reach for Manchester United.
Apart from
these rumors, there are other players linked with a move to Manchester
United. These include Gareth Bale (Tottenham), Kyriakos Papadopoulos
(Schalke), Dede (Vasco da Gama), Axel Witsel (Benfica), Kevin Strootman
(PSV Eindhoven), Danilo Cataldi (Lazio), Angelo Henriquez (Universidad
de Chile), Viktor Fischer (Ajax), Yohann Cabaye (Newcastle), Hector
Herrera (Pachuca), Cheick Tiote (Newcastle), Leighton Baines
(Everton), Moussa Dembele (Fulham), Jordi Alba (Valencia) and Claudio
Marchisio (Juventus).
Rumours (Departures)
Dimitar Berbatov (Malaga, Galatasaray, Lazio, PSG)
Dimitar is
probably just selecting which team he should go to, as United are pretty
good without him with the rise of young Danny Welbeck and Ashley Young.
Fabio (QPR, loan)
With
offers from Germany & Portugal, Fabio decided to stay in UK and
have more playing time by going on loan to QPR. Rafael, on the other
hand, after having interest from Chelsea, decided to stay Red, unlike
something what Torres would do.
Federico Macheda (Besiktas, loan)
Beskitas
have approached to sign, rather than loan, United forward Macheda for
around $6 million. Now,with the rise of Denny Welbeck and Ashley Young,
this might be a good chance for Manchester to get some money.
Nani (Juventus)
Nani has
still to agree a new contract at Old Trafford and, with two years left
on his present deal, there is some uncertainty over his future. If Nani
doesn’t sign after Portugal’s campaign in the Euro 2012, he will
probably leave.
Ji-sung Park (Galatasaray)
Park
didn’t get much playing time last season due to the rise of young
players. Furthermore, with the recent signing of Kawaga, his departure
looks imminent.
Michael Owen (Stoke)
Owen hasn’t done
well for United last year, so he’ll probably move out. Stoke are the
front-runners and have reportedly even made an offer. So long, Owen.
Apart from these
players, there are others who are rumored to be going out of the club,
either permanently or on loan. These players include Zeki Fryers (Spurs,
Newcastle), Paul Pogba (Juventus), Bebe (Loan), Michael Keane (Hull,
loan) and Ryan Tunnicliffe (Hull, loan).
