De Gea performance against Blackburn Rovers

DAVID DE GEA had a stinker against Blackburn in December but Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson insists he has matured into a class keeper.

Is the 21-year-old now in Top Gea or is he still Dodgy Gea?

SHOT STOPPING — TOP

THREE decent saves in the first half with the best one coming when he tipped over Marcus Olsson's 20-yarder.

A full-stretch save to deny Junior Hoilett and a tip over from Grant Hanley were a bit 'Hollywood' but needed stopping.

DISTRIBUTION — TOP

ONE or two rash clearances but this is one area which has improved as his confidence has grown.

Tried to get rid of the ball early where possible as United were given so much time to build their attacks by Rovers.

CROSSES — DODGY

YOU know you are going to be tested at Blackburn with Morten Gamst Pedersen's long throws and set-pieces.

He looked shaky on occasion — notably from one throw when he redeemed himself by tipping over Olsson's shot.

TEMPERAMENT — TOP

LOOKED a bag of nerves when he first arrived but is much more self-assured now.

With Anders Lindegaard injured, De Gea is established as the United first choice and that has done him the power of good.

VERDICT — TOP

IF the shock defeat to Rovers at Old Trafford on New Year's Eve was his low point so far, then this was one of his best days for United.

The champions could easily have been beaten but for their young keeper.
