Russia's 2018 World Cup logo
The
official emblem for the 2018 World Cup in Russia was unveiled by
cosmonauts on Tuesday and with it, football's jokers took to Twitter to
poke fun at its design.
Supporters
tweeted their own versions of the red, blue and gold-trimmed World Cup
trophy logo, with shavers, Finding Nemo, aliens and Marge Simpson all
involved.
FIFA
president Sepp Blatter, who insists it represents Russia's 'heart and
spirit', may not be best pleased to see these best adaptations of the
emblem for the 2018 tournament.
After
unveiling the logo on a Russian state television talk show, it was then
presented over video link by a crew of three Russian astronauts on the
International Space Station.
'Seeing
the football World Cup in our country was a dream for all of us,'
cosmonaut Elena Serova said during the official announcement.
The logo was simultaneously beamed on to Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre as part of a light show, too.
