France end Turkey on top
France were triumphant on the final day of Turkey 2013, beating Uruguay in a climactic penalty shoot-out, after the pair could not be separated over 90 minutes.
It was arguably a fitting end to a tournament that has seen so many games go right down to the wire, and a couple of superb penalty saves were the difference between two sides who gave their all.
Earlier on, Ghana ended the tournament in third-place, thanks to a 3-0 win over Iraq that sends them home with a bronze medal around their necks. That win ultimately ended the Middle Eastern side's hopes of their greatest ever showing at a FIFA tournament, having to be content with matching their performance at the Olympics in 2004 – but it remains their best-ever FIFA U-20 World Cup.
There was also some individual joy and consolation for the likes of Paul Pogba, Ebenezer Assifuah and Guillermo De Amores, as they each won the adidas Golden Ball, adidas Golden Boot and adidas Golden Glove.
