Ron ready to cut a deal
Cris will take cash hit to rejoin Man United
CRISTIANO RONALDO is willing to take a massive pay cut to sensationally rejoin Manchester United.
Mega-rich Paris Saint-Germain are ready with a package worth £130million to tempt him to France.
But Ronaldo has made his advisors aware he would sacrifice the huge pay-day to move back to Old Trafford for HALF the amount.
Alex Ferguson is still cautious about banking on Real Madrid’s Portuguese star returning to the club where he made his name.
But the United boss, who sold Ronaldo for £80m in 2009, has met him a couple of times this season and has made no secret about how impressed he is.
Fergie said: “Cristiano is mature now. He’s 28 and he’s at the peak of his career.
“With the fitness he’s got — he never misses a game and he’s never injured — you expect him to play at his peak until 32 or 33 easily.”
Fergie believes Ronaldo will receive a warm welcome from the Old Trafford faithful at Tuesday’s Champions League tie against the Spanish giants — before the game at least.
He insisted: “All our former players who come back, who have been great players, get a good reception.
“I see that all the time and he’ll get that — at the start of the game.”
As for how United will stop him, Ferguson joked: “I’ve got a plan. It’s called a machete. Plan B is the machine gun!”
SunSport understands United have already made contact with his representatives about a possible return and know the player is considering it.
We can also reveal that Real are coming to terms with the fact they may have to sell, with Ronaldo unwilling to sign a new deal.
He will have two seasons left on his current contract in the summer after which his value will start to go down.
PSG, backed by Qatari billionaires, will pay whatever it takes to get Ronaldo and will offer him £500,000 a week over five years.
United, who beat Norwich 4-0 yesterday thanks to Shinji Kagawa’s hat-trick, would raise Ronaldo’s current Real wage from £215,000 a week to match Wayne Rooney’s £250,000 deal.
But there would be lucrative bonuses and image rights on top of that.
The Premier League leaders are also willing to pay Real £60m and throw in a player, possibly Nani.
United’s major sponsor Nike, who also sponsor Ronaldo, are firmly behind the move.
