LOW: Sent off for sarcastically clapping ref in a 2005 clash with Villarreal.

HIGH: First trophy. Scores twice in 4-0 win over Wigan in 2006 Carling Cup final.

LOW: Breaks his foot at Chelsea as the Blues seal 2006 title. England still take him to the World Cup but gets sent off in quarter-final defeat by Portugal.

HIGH: Wins his first Premier League title in 2007 after signing two-year extension.

HIGH: A 34-goal season in which he scores in United’s 2010 League Cup final win over Villa sees him named PFA and Football Writers’ Player of the Year.

LOW: After dire 2010 World Cup, stuns Alex Ferguson by saying he wants to quit United due to the club’s lack of ambition. U-turn sees him sign a new five-year deal.

HIGH: Converts a penalty at Blackburn as United secure the 2011 Prem title.

LOW: Disappointing in Champions League first leg at Real before being axed for Tuesday’s return as United crashed out.

CHELSEA

THIS would depend on who takes over from current interim manager Rafa Benitez in the summer.
But billionaire owner Roman Abramovich would surely love to see a strike pairing of Rooney and Fernando Torres. Rooney could be just the spark to re-ignite the Spaniard’s faltering career.


MAN CITY
 
MONEYBAGS City could easily offer Rooney more money and the chance of competing for all the major trophies at home and in Europe.

Rooney would not even have to move house but would face an enormous backlash from United fans.
They would hate him for signing for their bitter rivals.


PSG
 
THE French club became one of the richest in the world after last year’s takeover by the Qatar Investment Authority.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has promised to invest £100m in the transfer market and the chance to play alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic and possibly David Beckham would appeal.

 
REAL MADRID

A SWITCH to United’s Champions League conquerors could help swing a move back to Old Trafford for Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

David Beckham was famously sold to Real after his bust-up with United manager Alex Ferguson and Rooney could follow the same path.


A MAKHACHKALA

RUSSIAN club is funded by billionaire Suleyman Kerimov — who is ranked by Forbes as the 118th richest man in the world.

He has a personal fortune of £4.9billion so Rooney would have no trouble vastly increasing his salary.
Learning the language might prove to be a problem though.
