p/s: rugi terlepas varane....

Preview: MU vs Blackburn Rovers

GGMU!!!

Ten Premier League Managers Of 2011

10) Neil Warnock (QPR)
If all three promoted sides stay in the Premier League, it is Neil Warnock who will get the least credit simply because he's had the most money. He has been allowed to bring in almost a whole new XI of players - some of whom who are on the kind of wages (Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips chief among them) that would pay for half Norwich's squad - to add to a team that had already eased to the Championship title.

But any manager who brings up a team from the Championship and keeps them around and about the point-per-game curve deserves at least some credit - especially when even those within the club query whether you're the right man for the task. One question, though: If QPR do go down, how will he blame Carlos Tevez?

9) David Moyes (Everton)
'Look at the league table now and you will wonder what on earth Moyes is doing on this list. But look at the statistics for the calendar year and you will see...' was the opening line of Moyes' entry on this list at the end of 2010. A year later and not a lot has changed. They ended the Premier League season in better form than Tottenham and then had to sell Jermaine Beckford, Yakubu and Mikel Arteta to leave themselves woefully short of goal threat. Consequently, 2011-12 has not begun well at all.

Moyes continues to make, if not silk, then some kind of durable synthetic material out of a sow's ear. While those financial constraints exist, mid-table is the equivalent of a title challenge. Lord help them if he leaves for sunnier climes.

8) Roberto Mancini (Manchester City)
There are some who would never have Roberto Mancini on such a list simply because he is not working within the same parameters as other managers. But a lack of parameters comes with its own problems - managing egos, managing a squad, managing expectations. Budgeting may not be a problem but managerial problems never end with budgets.

The first half of 2011 saw him meet targets with controlled ease - a Champions League place and a trophy. The second half of 2011 seems him on track for the second target - a genuine title challenge. As a side, he has delivered tantalising football boosted by the acquisition of Sergio Aguero. It's Aguero's arrival coupled with his own high standing within the club that saw him backed to the hilt in the Carlos Tevez debacle. Mancini is slowly becoming more important than the money.

7) Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United)
His team have amassed the most Premier League points in 2011, claimed the title with quite a few inches to spare and are very much in the race again despite their rivals and neighbours spending oodles of money this summer. And yet he's only 7) on this list with six managers below him who have won bugger all this year.

So where does he lose points? Mostly for facing Barcelona in the Champions League final and quite clearly having absolutely no clue how to beat them despite Ferguson boasting of a 'plan'. The 'plan' was rubbish. And now he's led a team to a disastrous European campaign that ended in ignominy/Switzerland. Oh and the jury is still out on his £19m keeper. It's a year that's brought another title but it feels like it might be the last for a while.

6) Kenny Dalglish (Liverpool)
When Dalglish took over from Roy Hodgson (our manager of the year in 2009), Liverpool were languishing in lower mid-table. By the end of the season, they were in sixth and that - on current form at least - is where they will probably end 2011/12. That they are already double figures away from the leaders is irrelevant - this season is all about taking Liverpool back to the top table. Missing out on the Champions League will be acceptable as long as they're within touching distance and putting up a fight. Dalglish has given Liverpool fans their self-respect again in 2011.

The signings have been distinctly hit (Luis Suarez) and miss (Andy Carroll) but it's fair to say that the club is a far happier place to be as 2011 becomes 2012 than it was when 2010 became 2011. The real test comes in 2012 now expectations have been raised.

5) Alan Pardew (Newcastle United)
Chris Hughton was a place higher on this list 12 months ago - following what appeared to be the terrible, terrible decision to give him the sack. Newcastle were 13th and on course for the mid-table finish that Pardew would go on to secure, but Hughton's face clearly did not fit at what used to be St James' Park. Pardew was a highly unpopular appointment as fans derided him as Mike Ashley's Cockney puppet.

An early blow came with the sale of Andy Carroll and the lack of time or funds for a replacement, but Pardew guided Newcastle through the rest of the season before implementing a summer plan to lose those players with big egos and big wages. They were replaced by cheaper, decidedly more French, alternatives and Newcastle started the season in barnstorming fashion. They may yet be pulled into the mediocrity below, but for now we should heartily applaud Pardew's 2011.

4) Tony Pulis (Stoke City)
As 2011 becomes 2012, Stoke are likely to be in roughly the same position as they ended 2010 - mid-table and safe from relegation but short of a European challenge. Is that enough considering the significant funds spent this summer? In normal circumstances then perhaps not, but Stoke reached an FA Cup final, claimed a Europa League place and have made a bloody good fist of challenging on two fronts.

While other managers moan about having two games in a week, Pulis has embraced the challenge and taken the Potters through to the Europa knock-out stages while still doing enough at home to easily maintain their status as the most recent addition to the 'Premier League stalwart' club. Pretty? No. Pretty efective? Oh yes.

3) Harry Redknapp (Tottenham)
Making this list for the fourth successive season (and people think we don't like him) is a manager who has lost only seven Premier League games so far in 2011 and has also claimed the not-inconsiderable scalp of AC Milan. Too many draws in March and April cost Tottenham a second successive season in the Champions League but they end 2011 on course to return for another crack in 2011/12.

But Redknapp's finest work came off the pitch as he persuaded Daniel Levy to make a decision based on football rather than business and sign Scott Parker, persuaded Emmanuel Adebayor to give him a year of his time and decided that the 40-year-old Brad Friedel was worth at least another season in the top flight. All this and he got Jonathan Woodgate, Alan Hutton, Robbie Keane, Wilson Palacios and Peter Crouch off the wage bill. Or rather the 'chairman's done a deal...'

2) Brendan Rodgers (Swansea)
The little fella with the highest pass completion rate in the Premier League was bought by Brendan Rodgers for just £400,000 in January. That man is Leon Britton and he was followed by the finest free signing of the summer - goalkeeper Michel Vorm. Add goalscorer Danny Graham for £3.5m and Rodgers has bought the spine of his team for less than £4m. No wonder he's become one of the hottest managerial properties in the Premier League.

Promotion from the Championship was secured via the play-offs after poor spring form saw them lose the momentum that should have taken them straight to the top flight. Frankly, they were everybody's favourites to challenge Derby's unwanted 11-point record but have instead proved very, very difficult to beat at the Liberty Stadium - even if they are awfully easy to beat on the road.

There was some scoffing when Swansea appointed a manager who had failed so miserably at Reading, but it looks increasingly likely that Rodgers needed am ambitious club prepared to buy into his vision of Welsh tika-taka.

1) Paul Lambert (Norwich City)
Nick Miller tells me that his Norwich-supporting, heterosexual friend would happily fellate Paul Lambert in gratitude for the phenomenal job he has done at Carrow Road. We're only dealing with 2011 right now so we'll gloss over the promotion from League One and fast-forward straight to post-Xmas Championship form of suffering just two defeats in 2011 before securing promotion to the Premier League.

Lambert's recruitment policy of going for hunger (see Grant Holt) over experience is paying serious dividends as the summer purchases of Steve Morison, Anthony Pilkington and Bradley Johnson already look shrewd. If their home form can keep them ahead of the point-per-game mark, they should survive to face the second-season syndrome that has previously claimed Reading and Hull.

The football may not be pretty but Holt and Morison are masters at bullying defenders used to facing a little more finesse, and Lambert is a master of getting the best out of unheralded footballers desperate to prove they belong at the big table.

One final word of warning, mind - this time last year, Ian Holloway was the manager of 2010.

Review: MU vs Wigan Athletic

Keputusan perlawanan:

Manchester United 5
Park Ji-Sung 8'
Dimitar Berbatov 41', 58', pen 78'
Antonio Valencia 75'

Wigan Athletic 0

Ulasan perlawanan:

Pemain terbaik perlawanan:

Dimitar Berbatov

Serie A Team of 2011

GK - Samir Handanovic (Udinese)

While Gigi Buffon is seemingly back to his best, Maarten Stekelenburg has been perhaps Roma's best player to date and Federico Marchetti has recaptured the form that saw him become Italy's second choice 'keeper little over a year ago, Udinese shot-stopper Handanovic has been simply sublime. Following on from last season, when he equalled a 62-year-old record for most penalties saved in a campaign, Handanovic has ten clean sheets in his first 16 outings this term and is a major reason for the defensive stability that has kept Udinese at the top end of the table.

RB - Stephan Lichtsteiner (Juventus)

The right-back needed since Lillian Thuram moved into central defence seven years ago, Lichtsteiner has rid Bianconeri fans of nightmarish memories of Jonathan Zebina, Zdenek Grygera and Marco Motta with a level of performance that has been consistent and impressive in equal measure. Rarely out of position, the Switzerland international has also contributed regularly to attacking play and netted the first official goal at the club's new stadium.

CB - Thiago Silva (AC Milan)

Ultra-reliable, the Brazilian has been the rock on which Milan's hopes for the season are constructed. Calm in the tackle, assured on the ball and powerful in the air, Thiago is everything Allegri could ask of a central defender. He can cover for the lapses of others, such as when he is paired with Daniele Bonera, and is a brilliant partner to Alessandro Nesta when the veteran is fit. Almost flawless thus far.

CB - Lucio (Inter Milan)

While Inter have floundered at the wrong end of the table, the former Bayern Munich man has been as solid as ever. A huge reason for the string of clean-sheets that Inter amassed leading up to the winter break, Lucio's timing, reading of the game and breaks from deep are essential to the recent resurgence of the Nerazzurri under Claudio Ranieri. He and Brazil team-mate Thiago Silva were pushed hard for places in our line-up by Edgar Barreto, Mehdi Benatia and Andrea Barzagli.

LB - Stefan Radu (Lazio)

Hailed as 'the new Chivu', the Romanian has been as unlike his compatriot as it is possible to be. Where the Inter man has been a liability, costing his team goals and looking like he has spent a year too long at the top, Radu has thrived in Rome. Naturally a central defender, he has ensured Lazio have barely been affected by the sale of Aleksandar Kolarov on the left and has worn the captain's armband on a number of occasions.

CM - Claudio Marchisio (Juventus)

Undoubtedly helped by an almost perfectly blended midfield in Turin, Marchisio has nonetheless managed to shine even brighter than new arrivals Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal. While his team-mates have been thoroughly impressive, the Turin native has been simply outstanding. His runs from deep have linked defence and attack perfectly and his endeavour has, allied to the similarly tireless Chilean Vidal, been a major factor in the success of Antonio Conte's relentless pressing style.

CM - Antonio Nocerino (AC Milan)

A contender for transfer of the season, his €500,000 move from Palermo looks like an absolute steal. Adding much-needed energy, passion and grit into a previously staid Milan midfield, he has picked up the fiery baton laid down by Gennaro Gattuso while also chipping in a career-high six goals, making him the club's top scorer from open play.

CM - Daniele De Rossi (Roma)

Amid talk of everything in Roma being new, as Luis Enrique's revolution leaves behind the Giallorossi's past, De Rossi looks even more of a throwback than he did before. He is the club's best tackler and passer, slotting into central defence when required - both starting games there or dropping in as play evolves - without skipping a beat. The Italy international embodies everything good about the new-look team around him, while also representing everything his city holds dear. A true flag-bearer.

FW - Antonio Di Natale (Udinese)

If De Rossi is Roma personified then Di Natale is undoubtedly the beating heart of Udinese. The Naples-born striker has continued his blistering goalscoring form of the last two seasons, firing his team once more into the Champions League places despite having a knee injury that prevents him from training properly during the week. On the wane, but still a decisive player for the Zebrette.

FW - German Denis (Atalanta)

Perhaps the most surprising name on the list, the Atalanta striker has bagged more than 50% of his team's goals and helped them overcome the six-point penalty with which they began the season. Vital to the Bergamo side's push to stay in Serie A, he leads the league in scoring despite never previously having reached double figures on the peninsula.

FW - Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan)

Having passed the 100 Serie A goals mark, at a rate of better than one every two games, Zlatan has been as impressive as ever this term. He thoroughly enjoyed scoring a wonderful goal against former employers Barcelona in the Champions League and has continued to lead the line for Milan as only he can, forming a spine, along with Thiago Silva and Nocerino, which is unrivalled anywhere in Italy.

Eric Abidal's contract expires in the summer and, although the French full-back has constantly claimed that he wishes to remain at Barcelona, he also hinted in October that he would be interested in a move to one of Europe's elite clubs if a new deal cannot be agreed. Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan and Manchester City are all monitoring his situation, according to the player himself, and all would be willing to pay a fee to secure the defender's services in January.

However, reports in the Spanish press claim that Abidal is now very close to agreeing a new deal at the Catalan club, where he has played since 2007, so any prospective buyers will need to get a move on.

Diego Buonanotte hasn't had the happiest of starts to his Malaga career, but things are looking up after the Argentine playmaker netted a crucial late goal for the Andalusians in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday night to ensure Manuel Pellegrini's men advanced to the last 16 following a 2-2 draw at home to Getafe.

Appearances in La Liga have mainly been as a substitute, however, with the Argentine given few opportunities to shine for the Costa del Sol outfit. Getafe, Rayo Vallecano and Atletico Madrid would all like to take the talented player to the capital, but Wednesday's intervention may just boost his chances of making it in the south of Spain after all.

Ricardo Costa may have played a part in the Porto side that marched to victory in the Champions League in 2004, but he is no longer in favour at Valencia and appears to have a frosty relationship with coach Unai Emery. The Portuguese defender has featured just twice in La Liga this season and could well be making a move in the January window.

The player repeatedly insisted in the summer that he wished to remain at Mestalla, but his lack of appearances in recent times has caused him to reassess and the centre-back has now admitted his willingness to move on in January. Portuguese giants Benfica may make a move for the defender, while Atletico Madrid could also renew their interest. At the moment, however, Betis look favourites to land the centre-back.

Kaka's career at Real Madrid has still never really taken off. The Brazil playmaker has shown signs this season of returning to his very best but, just when he looks to be returning to the peak of his powers, he picks up an injury.

The Brazilian has claimed that he will not leave the Santiago Bernabeu until he has become a big hit but, in his third season at the club, it still has not quite happened. With an assault on La Liga, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey ahead, Jose Mourinho will be reluctant to sell in January. But, with Angel Di Maria and Jose Callejon shining, nothing is impossible. And, should Kaka leave, there will be no shortage of interested parties.

Carlos Kameni is a fine goalkeeper and has enjoyed a successful career at Espanyol, but the Cameroonian has lost his place under coach Mauricio Pochettino and now appears to have no future at the Catalan club.

Kameni almost signed for Roma in the summer, but that move never materialised. Now, Espanyol will be keen to shift him from their wage bill in January and Malaga look in pole position to snap up the African shot-stopper. Premier League sides Tottenham and Fulham have also been linked.

As Villarreal finished fourth and reached the semi-finals of the Europa League last season, Nilmar appeared happy at the Spanish side. The Brazilian forward outlined his desire to go on and win things but, instead, the Yellow Submarine have been sinking, losing all of their Champions League group games this term and sitting dangerously close to the bottom of the Primera Division.

And now, the striker looks to have had enough. The player's agent has revealed contact with Serie A club Roma, while a move to Fiorentina in part-exchange with Alberto Gilardino has also been mooted recently. Brazilian side Sao Paulo are in the frame as well, although such a switch seems less likely. With Giuseppe Rossi sidelined, however, and Villarreal in trouble, he may have to wait until the summer before moving on.

Mesut Ozil was nothing short of a revelation for Real Madrid last term, but the German playmaker has looked less impressive this season and friction with coach Jose Mourinho has led to talk of a possible move for the talented 23-year-old, who has spent much of his time on the bench in 2011-12.

On holiday in Turkey, Ozil refused to rule out a switch this winter, and claimed that he was unwilling to discuss his relationship with Mourinho. He did say that he is happy at Madrid, however, and he is unlikely to leave at this stage as the club chase honours in three competitions. Shoud he be allowed to move on, Manchester United would be likely to join the chase for his signature. They, like Liverpool, are set to be disappointed, though.

Roberto Soldado finished 2010-11 in red-hot form and has picked where he left off with some stunning showings this term. The former Real Madrid striker has been the undoubted star for a Valencia side pushing the big two at the top of the table. And, with 11 goals to his name already, the 26-year-old looks on the verge of a Spain call-up as well.

Paris Saint-Germain are interested, while Premier League duo Liverpool and Spurs have also been linked. With Valencia now managing their debts, however, the former Getafe and Osasuna man should stay at Mestalla for a while longer yet.

The Italo-Brazilian is the ultimate in unwanted assets right now. After Juventus tried to squeeze him out in the summer, Antonio Conte has stuck to his word in leaving the striker to train with the youth team for the past four months.

Borriello has emerged as a surprise target for Juventus after struggling to hold down a place in the Roma first team under Luis Enrique. He began the season in the starting lineup but, when he failed to keep up with Pablo Daniel Osvaldo's form in front of goal, he found himself surplus to requirements rather quickly.

Having recently gone seven weeks without any action, the striker will be wary about joining another club where he may struggle to hold his own, but a €1 million (£800,000) loan move to Juve has been touted, with another €7.5m (£6.2m) to change hands if he is a success before the summer. Roma are fast approaching judgement day in their relationship with their 'Capitan Futuro', with the threat of a departure looming ever closer. Out of contract in June, the Italy midfielder could well turn his back on his boyhood club for as little as €7m (£5.8m) in his quest to win a league title for the first time and challenge for a Champions League crown.

Manchester City seem the club most likely to be able to both pay the level of wages and offer the aspirations De Rossi would be looking for but, with Roberto Mancini having warned that the Citizens will not be spending any money without selling first, it means that the Italian will either have to settle for a pre-contract agreement, or wait until the summer to iron out his future.

Gilardino has been a shadow of his former self since missing a month of football due to a knee injury soon after the season began, and he has now seen himself left out of the starting lineup in favour of Stevan Jovetic by new coach Delio Rossi.

After three and a half years in Florence, he may see now as being the right time to move on, and Genoa had a significant look at him before seemingly settling for Amauri. Following on from the likes of Luca Toni, Fabio Grosso, Amauri, Simon Kjaer, Edinson Cavani and Javier Pastore, the Uruguayan continues to attract big-name clubs.

After an approach from Roma in the summer, it is expected that they will again show some interest in the striker, while Paris Saint-Germain were linked with a potential move in November, with Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini informing the media that he and Federico Balzaretti could leave for the Parc des Princes if the price is right.

Like Amauri, Iaquinta is very definitely surplus to requirements right now, but he has been linked with fewer clubs due in part to the thigh injury which saw him miss the start of the season. Since recovering, he has found it impossible to break into Antonio Conte's plans and now looks a certainty to leave.

However, it is now a question of whether he must first endure another five months of exile, with Napoli, Olympiakos and Bordeaux having all shown an interest in the summer, but none of them having recently declared an intention to pursue the link. This makes a late contender for his signature the most likely resolution, with Juve needing to get him, Amauri and Luca Toni off the wage bill to accomodate any new signing.

Massimiliano Allegri's announcement this week that fans' hero Inzaghi is no longer in his plans will have come like a dagger to the heart of many Milanisti, but will also have surprised few given the lack of minutes awarded to the 38-year-old so far this season.

Despite his advanced years, he still has the wily knack of picking up space on the shoulder of the last defender that could prove vital to many teams, with Novara the first to state their intention to approach Milan to negotiate a deal. Don't be too shocked to see other, more storied, clubs look to take a chance on him.

The Brazilian is among a number of Serie A stalwarts to have been frozen out by their coach this season, with his recent return being down to desperation more than desire on the part of Luis Enrique. Injuries to Nicolas Burdisso and Simon Kjaer pushed him up the pecking order, but De Rossi's form as a centre-half has again made Juan's future uncertain.

Juventus showed some interest in the autumn and, with Juan's agent having publicly stated that the player is eager to end his recent Roma hell, don't be surprised to see the defender take the first offer that comes.

One half of the Slovakian is already Inter's, with the midfielder having been part of the deal which saw 50 per cent of Emiliano Viviano's rights snapped up by Genoa in the summer. He was then widely touted to complete a full move to San Siro in January, but there is less certainty about the switch taking place right now.

With his form having dipped since his electric run at the start of the season, it appears that Inter may wait until May to make a firm decision on what to do with the 24-year-old. Much will depend on their pursuit of other midfield targets, with the decision to make a January move still a possibility if other avenues go cold.

The Argentine continues to be Catania's main goal-getter, even if his prolific run of early 2010 has never been matched. However, Milan's long-time pursuit now looks set to bring his transfer status to a head.

After the Etnei announced rather publicly that they had agreed a deal in principle with the Serie A champions, they have since claimed that the Rossoneri are not the only interested party. With Carlos Tevez being Milan's number-one target, it remains to be seen whether a second striker is on their agenda, and a loan move would be to the preference of Adriano Galliani and his money men.

The Italy midfielder has continued to be a regular for the Viola this season, but the lack of an armband and the loss of his usual drive and substance have been telling as his relationship with the club has deteriorated further. Now a surefire departee in 2012, the only question that remains pertains to the exact date and destination for Montolivo's next move.

With Milan firm favourites for his signature, they could decide to bite the bullet and pay a minimal fee for his services next month, but it seems more likely that they will wait to make their move after June 30, when he will be a free agent. A pre-contract agreement would be no surprise though. If a previous interest from Inter is reignited, he could yet join old mate Giampaolo Pazzini at a third different club.

After doing a great job on the quiet at Piacenza, the Belgian has exploded since arriving in Sardinia two years ago. Now one of the first names on the Cagliari teamsheet, he is likely to be sacrificed in the name of a big cash injection in the near future, and a January move should not be ruled out.

With his industrious, tenacious and creative mix having drawn the attention of all of Italy's big three, it appears that a real dogfight could ensue over his signature, though each of the trio could yet find that other priorities elsewhere result in them taking the chance of waiting until the summer. Manchester City have also been strongly linked.

The Italy striker has seen just 198 minutes of action in the league this season after falling out of favour with Antonio Conte in the summer and, at one point, there seemed a fair chance that a Milan approach for a loan deal might have been taken seriously.

However, the former Napoli man's endeavour and work-rate have seen him win back some of Conte's trust and, with Alessandro Matri not always firing of late, there is the very real posibility of regular football for Quagliarella if he sticks around in January. Therefore, while a move shouldn't be ruled out, he appears likely to give it another six months in Turin before making any big decisions about another transfer.

The Nigerian's long-anticipated move to San Siro has brought little more than disappointment in the cold light of day. With only four league appearances to his name, he has had to deal with constant speculation over his future since it became clear that coach Allegri did not have enough faith to give him a regular role.

The Milan board have since seemingly been on a mission to find him a new club, and the Rossoneri could make a reasonable profit on him by offloading him just six months in. Benfica showed an interest in the autumn, while there could also be an attraction for French clubs after his successful stint at Olympique de Marseille.

Signed for €15 million (£12.5m) from Porto, the left-back hasn’t truly lived up to expectations at the Stade Gerland, despite providing an attacking threat from deep. His performance levels have been somewhat erratic, and only one player in history has scored more own goals in Ligue 1 than the defender.

Had Lyon been in a comfortable financial situation, they probably wouldn’t be aiming to offload the 24-year-old, but president Jean-Michel Aulas has said that one star will leave in the winter, and that increasingly looks likely to be Cissokho. Mouhamadou Dabo stands in wait, and though there is no question this is a downgrade on OL’s part, they can still hope to raise significant funds from the sale of a player who has never quite reached his potential with the Rhone Valley giants.

That Mevlut Erding is still with Paris Saint-Germain is largely down to circumstance. He was widely expected to be off-loaded in August, though an injury to Guillaume Hoarau plus a match-winning cameo from the Turkey international against Toulouse proved decisive as the club decided to keep the former Sochaux player.

He has failed to score in the league since, and while PSG have been dreadfully short of striking options, Mevlut has been forced to watch on from the bench persistently. When he’s been called upon, no impression has been made, and it seems like his time in the capital is up, and Ligue 1 rivals plus some clubs in Turkey have their ears pricked.

Gignac’s dream of signing for boyhood club Marseille has turned into something of a nightmare. Plagued by niggling injuries since joining for €15m (£12.5m) from Toulouse, he has never managed to fully establish himself in the starting XI of les Phoceens and has failed to display the goalscoring quality he showed with le Tefece.

A player who is almost totally right-sided, Gignac has hit a rut of confidence in front of goal, yet there remains a deadly finisher somewhere in his mind bursting to get out once more. He fell out with head coach Didier Deschamps earlier this season, apparently ranting in a similar manner as Nicolas Anelka did with Raymond Domenech during the 2010 World Cup, but has since apologised. Nevertheless, his days at Stade Velodrome appear to be numbered.

The fact that he is presently carrying an injury expected to keep him out until the end of January may put some teams off making a move, though, while Marseille may be tempted to keep the attacker as Andre and possibly Jordan Ayew will both be at the African Cup of Nations in 2012.

The star of Montpellier, striker Olivier Giroud, has ascended greatly over the course of the last five months, and now the No.9 finds himself in the viewfinder of several top sides. Showing a wide array of offensive skills, he not only leads Ligue 1 in goals scored, but he has also been surpassed only by Mathieu Valbuena when it comes to assists this season.

Strong yet technically adept, Premier League clubs are rumoured to be closely following the 25-year-old, who recently made his international debut for France.

Montpellier, though, won’t want to sell their key offensive weapon, who has been one of the major reasons they currently sit second in Ligue 1, and it will take a mammoth bid for him to be whisked away from the Stade de la Mosson.

Lucho once provided the sparkle in the eye of Didier Deschamps’ Marseille side, but the Argentine has been a shell of his former self for much of the last year, and particularly over the course of the last six months, when he has been overshadowed by Bosman signing Morgan Amalfitano and forced onto the bench.

He continues to show glimpses of his undoubted talent, and scored in the Ligue 1 round 19 victory over Nancy, which may well prove to be a fitting swansong to the player who was the key man in Marseille’s title success in 2010.

Off-field reasons, including being held at gunpoint in his home during a burglary, have contributed to the player’s unsettled performances, and it’s simply time for a new start for ‘El Comandante’.

Poland international midfielder Ludovic Obraniak is a player surely good enough to get into any Ligue 1 midfield ... anyone, that is, aside from Lille. The likes of Eden Hazard, Joe Cole and Dimitri Payet bar the way for the 27-year-old from getting in the starting XI, and with Euro 2012 just around the corner, it seems that it’s time for the France-born man to depart a club at which he has achieved great success.

Technically gifted, Obraniak has been with Lille since signing in 2007, but he has never been able to establish himself as a first pick, despite scoring the winning goal in last term’s Coupe de France final.
